Biomethan from landfill biogas

Biomethane from landfill biogas This is the first Italian biomethane from landfill biogas plant built thanks to the Biomether Life+ project for the development of the biomethane sector in Emilia-Romagna. This is an experimental plant that refines the biogas already used for the production of electricity, produced by the decomposition of waste in landfills. Thanks to the refining technology, the biogas is transformed into biomethane that will be used to feed part of the buses of the fleet of the public transport service of Ravenna. Furthermore, the heart of the plant represented by the package for the purification of raw biogas has been supplied by SGR Biomethane

The BioMethER programme was born from the Energy and Environment Platform of the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network thanks to funding from the LIFE programme and the Region. With the support of BioMethER, the first two Italian biomethane upgrading plants were built using membrane separation technology from a complex matrix: sewage sludge and landfill biogas. Working alongside the partners who participated in the programme, SGR Biomethane provided the heart of the technology for the construction of biogas purification units.
