Biomethane from sewage sludge
Biomethane from sewage sludge Inaugurated in May 2017 at IRETI's Roncocesi purification plant in Reggio Emilia, the plant produces biomethane from sewage sludge, using membrane separation technology supplied and installed by SGR Biomethane. The biomethane obtained from the upgrading is used to feed the company cars thanks to the on-site distribution column. This is the first membrane plant built in Emilia Romagna for upgrading biogas from sewage sludge. Once again we have been forerunners of the times, anticipating the DM Biomethane 2018 which includes and regulates, among others, the complex organic matrix
The BioMethER programme was born from the Energy and Environment Platform of the Emilia-Romagna High Technology Network thanks to funding from the LIFE programme and the Region. With the support of BioMethER, the first two Italian biomethane upgrading plants were built using membrane separation technology from a complex matrix: sewage sludge and landfill biogas. Working alongside the partners who participated in the programme, SGR Biomethane provided the heart of the technology for the construction of biogas purification units.
