INNOVATION AS AN ALLY FOR OUR TIME CHALLENGES

Our reference market is represented by companies, both public and private, that need to manage waste and organic waste of various kinds. By taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the most advanced technologies and the incentives promoted by governments, the circular economy becomes a reality.

AN ECO-SUSTAINABLE PROCESS

Raw biogas is a natural fuel produced by anaerobic digestion: a natural biological process where, in the absence of oxygen, organic substances are degraded by a selected microbial flora.

During anaerobic digestion, the complex organic substance is decomposed into its elementary constituents and the energy contained in the chemical bonds that compose it is transferred and stored in the methane gas that is released during the last stages of the process. Each organic biomass with the presence of carbon, according to the fundamental elements that compose it, has both different biogas productivity and different degradation rates, from a few weeks to several months.

The entire natural process has no environmental impact, a characteristic which, when added to the intrinsic benefits deriving from the use of biomass itself, makes anaerobic digestion a truly eco-sustainable process.

Strategic advantages of biomethane

1

It contributes to the replacement of fossil energy sources with renewable sources in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement;

2

It can be used for the transport sector, contributing to the 10% share of biofuels required by international climate agreements;

3

It allows logistical savings thanks to the storage capacity and capillarity of the national natural gas network, thus allowing it to be better integrated with other non-programmable and intermittent renewable energy sources.

What until recently appeared to be a futuristic scenario, today with SGR Biomethane is already a reality. In fact, we have all the requirements to fully enter the world of LNG, for us "BML" neologism that indicates the Liquefied Biomethane. In this regard, for us the commitment to R&D is fundamental thanks to our active participation in working and research groups, in which we cooperate as universities, research laboratories and other far-sighted companies in order to make processes that are still under study competitive on an industrial scale. Only in this way can the supply chain be considered complete and the circular economy really closed, allowing alternative use and storage solutions that not only solve logistical problems, but also open the way to the supply of heavy vehicles such as trucks and ships.
